Tom, Certified Veterinary TechnicianCertified Veterinary Technician Tom has been with Society Hill Veterinary Hospital since 1998. In addition to his years of experience, he has an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and is certified in Pennsylvania.

He is a hardworking and loyal member of our staff and says he enjoys his work because he gets to help people and animals as well as learn something new each day.

He has a cat named Weezer and enjoys writing, playing and listening to music as well as watching movies, shopping and poetry.

Courtney, Certified Veterinary Technician

Siubhan, Assistant

Courtney joined Society Hill Veterinary Hospital as a Certified Veterinary Technician in October of 2015, bringing with her more than six years of experience in the animal care field. She previously worked with exotic animals, including monkeys and baboons, and provided zoo medicine. Courtney is certified in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Colorado. She holds an Associate's Degree in veterinary technology and a Bachelor’s in psychology and animal behavior.

Helping clients and their pets feel comfortable and keep healthy is what Courtney finds most rewarding about her position. "The clients really care about their pets and value the quality of care we provide," she says.

At home, Courtney has an Australian Shepard mix named Flapjack and two cats, Nava and Indy. A transplant from Colorado, she still loves getting outdoors, hiking with her dog, and skiing. She also enjoys time spent with her husband and pets at home and traveling when she gets the chance.

Meghan, Certified Veterinary Technician

Meghan, Technician

Caring for hospitalized and boarding pets and assisting doctors during pet examinations is a part of Megan’s everyday responsibilities here at Society Hill. Since joining Society Hill in May of 2017, Meghan has helped support our team by educating our clients and helping pet owners keep their pets as happy and healthy as possible.

“I enjoy educating clients to help clients care for their pets. I enjoy working with a team” Meghan says. “I enjoy educating clients on how to administrate medications to their pets and how to use towel wrapping when needed. I joined Society Hill Veterinary Hospital to be a part of a good medical team and to improve on my technical skills. I enjoy learning new things and enjoy learning new ways to better help the patients.”

After obtaining a B.A. in social work and an A.S. degree in Veterinary Medical Technology, Meghan went on to work for an animal shelter in North Carolina, as well as dog daycare centers, providing here assistance as a dog sitter. She also worked at a couple of veterinary hospitals in Philadelphia, and is certified in veterinary medical technology in the state of Pennsylvania.

Meghan enjoys hanging out with her 3-year-old nephew and 1-year old niece. She also enjoys exploring the Wissahickon trails, and being outside in nature. At home, Meghan owns a senior cat named Pollyanna, whom she loves dearly.

Amber, Veterinary Assistant

Amber, Veterinary Assistant

Being able to interact with both animals and their owners is something that Amber loves about being a veterinary assistant at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital. She worked in animal-related fields for several years before joining our staff in February, 2013. Amber's job responsibilities include educating clients about proper pet care and providing animals with the attention and care that they need when they come through our door.

"I love being able to help and interact with people's pets. I particularly love watching animals grow up from being a puppy or kitten to an adult," she said.

Amber is a pet owner herself and enjoys spending time with her three dogs, Fuzzy, Max and Cashew. In her free time, she likes to take her dogs to the dog park, eat out at restaurants, go to movies with her boyfriend and read a good book.

Nicole, Veterinary AssistantNicole, Veterinary Assistant

Nicole began working at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital in November 2016. Prior to joining the hospital, she gained experience in the animal-care field as a kennel technician, practice manager and assistant. Nicole's daily responsibilities include assisting the veterinarians during surgery, drawing blood and placing IV catheters. She's currently enrolled at Penn Foster Career School's veterinary technician program.

"The small staff at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital allows for close bonds, and the client relationships are great," Nicole says.

At home, Nicole has a 10-year-old chocolate Labrador named Bella and a 12-year-old Italian greyhound named Maggie. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, photography and traveling.

Kanitta, AssistantKanitta, Patient Care Assistant

Kanitta joined the animal care team at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital in July 2016 after working in the animal science field for more than 10 years. Some of Kanitta's job responsibilities include cleaning, assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and running lab work. She most enjoys running lab work and assisting doctors and technicians. Kanitta brings a friendly and energetic personality to the clinic each day, and her attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills make her a great addition to the staff.

Before working at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital, Kanitta earned her Doctorate of Agricultural Science (Animal Science) from University of Bonn, Germany. Kanitta worked as a trainee veterinary assistant in Germany in 2015.

Kanitta enjoys her new veterinary position in the states. She says, "SHVH is a full-service animal hospital with great doctors and the staff are friendly and amazing!" In her free time, Kanitta enjoys traveling, photography, cooking, dancing, badminton and biking.

Dawn, Patient Care AssistantDawn, Patient Care Assistant

Dawn started working here at Society Hill in July of 2017. As a Patient Care Assistant, Dawn is responsible for assisting our Certified Veterinary Technicians and Veterinarians with animal care practices. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in 1988, and is currently attending Penn Foster to become a CVT.

“I love working with animals and caring for them,” proclaims Dawn. “I love seeing some things progress in a positive direction. I love being someone who has a voice for animals and will do whatever it takes to care for them.”

While Dawn is not busy working or attending school, she loves playing softball and spending time at Avalon Campground. She also loves gardening and enjoys spending time with her wife. At home, Dawn has a cat named Benny, a dog named Cherokee, and a Baby Hahas McCaw named Pepper.
