Tom, Certified Veterinary TechnicianCertified Veterinary Technician Tom has been with Society Hill Veterinary Hospital since 1998. In addition to his years of experience, he has an Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology and is certified in Pennsylvania.

He is a hardworking and loyal member of our staff and says he enjoys his work because he gets to help people and animals as well as learn something new each day.

He has a cat named Weezer and enjoys writing, playing and listening to music as well as watching movies, shopping and poetry.

Meghan, Certified Veterinary Technician

Meghan, Technician

Caring for hospitalized and boarding pets and assisting doctors during pet examinations is a part of Megan’s everyday responsibilities here at Society Hill. Since joining Society Hill in May of 2017, Meghan has helped support our team by educating our clients and helping pet owners keep their pets as happy and healthy as possible.

“I enjoy educating clients to help clients care for their pets. I enjoy working with a team” Meghan says. “I enjoy educating clients on how to administrate medications to their pets and how to use towel wrapping when needed. I joined Society Hill Veterinary Hospital to be a part of a good medical team and to improve on my technical skills. I enjoy learning new things and enjoy learning new ways to better help the patients.”

After obtaining a B.A. in social work and an A.S. degree in Veterinary Medical Technology, Meghan went on to work for an animal shelter in North Carolina, as well as dog daycare centers, providing here assistance as a dog sitter. She also worked at a couple of veterinary hospitals in Philadelphia, and is certified in veterinary medical technology in the state of Pennsylvania.

Meghan enjoys hanging out with her 3-year-old nephew and 1-year old niece. She also enjoys exploring the Wissahickon trails, and being outside in nature. At home, Meghan owns a senior cat named Pollyanna, whom she loves dearly.

Amber, Veterinary Assistant

Amber, Veterinary Assistant

Being able to interact with both animals and their owners is something that Amber loves about being a veterinary assistant at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital. She worked in animal-related fields for several years before joining our staff in February, 2013. Amber's job responsibilities include educating clients about proper pet care and providing animals with the attention and care that they need when they come through our door.

"I love being able to help and interact with people's pets. I particularly love watching animals grow up from being a puppy or kitten to an adult," she said.

Amber is a pet owner herself and enjoys spending time with her three dogs, Fuzzy, Max and Cashew. In her free time, she likes to take her dogs to the dog park, eat out at restaurants, go to movies with her boyfriend and read a good book.

Nicole, Veterinary AssistantNicole, Veterinary Assistant

Nicole began working at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital in November 2016. Prior to joining the hospital, she gained experience in the animal-care field as a kennel technician, practice manager and assistant. Nicole's daily responsibilities include assisting the veterinarians during surgery, drawing blood and placing IV catheters. She's currently enrolled at Penn Foster Career School's veterinary technician program.

"The small staff at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital allows for close bonds, and the client relationships are great," Nicole says.

At home, Nicole has a 10-year-old chocolate Labrador named Bella and a 12-year-old Italian greyhound named Maggie. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, reading, photography and traveling.

Brianna, Veterinary AssistantBrianna F., Veterinary Assistant

Brianna is our veterinary assistant at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital, responsible for overseeing appointments, running diagnostics, gathering samples, educating our clients and treating pets. She’s been working in the animal-related field since she was 14-years- old and has over 11 years of experience. She loves learning something new while also being able to teach others.

“Being a part of Society Hill has taught me so much. Dr. Casavecchia uses every opportunity to educate the staff. Everyone is compassionate towards each other, owners, and patient,” Brianna believes. “To be a part of the Hill means you are a part of a family that is dedicated to the care of your pet.”

Brianna has a lovely pet of her own – a 4-year- old black and white cat named Luna. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family.

Kanitta, AssistantKanitta, Patient Care Assistant

Kanitta joined the animal care team at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital in July 2016 after working in the animal science field for more than 10 years. Some of Kanitta's job responsibilities include cleaning, assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and running lab work. She most enjoys running lab work and assisting doctors and technicians. Kanitta brings a friendly and energetic personality to the clinic each day, and her attention to detail and strong interpersonal and communication skills make her a great addition to the staff.

Before working at Society Hill Veterinary Hospital, Kanitta earned her Doctorate of Agricultural Science (Animal Science) from University of Bonn, Germany. Kanitta worked as a trainee veterinary assistant in Germany in 2015.

Kanitta enjoys her new veterinary position in the states. She says, "SHVH is a full-service animal hospital with great doctors and the staff are friendly and amazing!" In her free time, Kanitta enjoys traveling, photography, cooking, dancing, badminton and biking.

Brianna, Veterinary AssistantLeeanne, Patient Care Assistant

Administrative Assistant Leeanne started working for Society Hill seasonally in June of 2013, and began working on a daily basis in June of 2016. Some of her responsibilities include answering phones, walking pets, administrative projects, and file management, but her favorite part of the job is working with our clients and patients.

“The quality of care is amazing and the staff are welcoming and easy to work with,” Leeanne says. “Every day is a learning experience!”

Leeanne is the proud owner of 6 pets. She has a 29-year-old Cockatoo, named Buzz, a 25-year-old African Grey, named Ruby, a 6-year-old Great Dane Mix, named Dixie Rae, a 4-year-old DLH cat named Flash, and 2 Great Danes named Magnus and Zeb, both of whom are 2 years old. At home, she enjoys spending her time with family, reading, cooking, and exploring new places.

Brianna, Veterinary AssistantJennifer J., Patient Care Assistant

Jennifer is our full-time patient care assistant that helps our technicians, doctors, and maintains cleanliness of the hospital. She thoroughly enjoys learning from all our staff, as well as our clients, so she can provide the top care that they deserve. She has a Bachelors of Science in Neurobiology with a Minor in Mathematics.

She has a long history in the animal-related field due to volunteering since 2011 as a dog walker at a local animal shelter near her home and completing internships in the summers of 2013 and 2015 at a farm animal sanctuary.

“I began with Society Hill Veterinary Hospital as a shadow and was really impressed by the level of care they provide their clients, their dedication to learning and applying the best methods of practice, the overall organization and structure of the practice, and their overall commitment to their community,” she says.

At home, Jennifer has a three-year- old domestic short-haired cat named Emma. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys gardening, baking, fundraising, walking/hiking, ceramics, crocheting, running, swimming, baking, and much more.
