Claudia L. Casavecchia, DVM

“My mom recalls me as a child growing up in Bay Shore, NY always intrigued by animals. I wanted to know how to care for the sick and injured animals. I was very lucky to have been able to attend Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and then be accepted to their College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1989.”

Dr. Casavecchia’s foundation of always being curious and questioning everything helped her to become the great veterinarian she is today. She uses everything she learned working with both small and large animals to be able to teach the staff at the hospital and the pet owners that entrust her with the care of their special companions. Veterinary medicine continues to be challenging and ever-changing which gives her the opportunity to constantly learn and grow.

Dr. Casavecchia is a member of AAHA, AVMA, PVMA, AAFP, and participates in the WTA well-managed practice group. She served on the board of the PSPCA for over 8 years. She was recognized by the PVMA in 2005 for her dedication to the animal welfare community by receiving the Public Service Award of Merit. Her special interests including playing softball and field hockey, gardening and international travel.
